Vein Specialists
A vein specialist is a medical professional who focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of vein diseases. Diseases of the veins may include spider veins and varicose veins, vascular insufficiency, vein clotting disorders, lymphedema, and wound healing. Vein specialists include physicians, advanced care nurses, and registered vascular technologists.
A Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) is responsible for obtaining ultrasound images of blood vessels. An RVT also assists with all minimally invasive vein disease treatments including endovenous laser therapy (EVLT) and ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy. A vascular technologist is an integral part of the team, providing an accurate and detailed diagnosis of vein disease and providing impressions about vein disease severity.
When choosing a vein treatment specialist, it is essential to consider the entire vein treatment team.
